Dr.S.Bhagyalekshmy M.A., Ph.D, hails from a musical family, took her Doctorate in Music from Kerala University after completing her Masters degree in Music from Kerala University.

She has authored several books on Carnatic Music including the Ragas in Carnatic Music, Carnatic Music compositions, notated editions in English and Malayalam of compositions of Tyagaraja, Muthuswamy Dikshitar,  Syama Sastri, Maharaja Swathi Tirunal and a book on Bharathanatyam.

She has rendered several CDs for learning  Karnatic Music lessons for the beginners,  easy to learn format editions of compositions of Tyagaraja, Muthuswamy Dikshitar, Syama Sastri, Maharaja Swathi Tirunal. A 26 CD series on Carnatic Mela and Janya ragas titled Ragadhara - audio encyclopaedia of Melakartha and Janya ragas. She has been performing in All India radio and regular media channels for the last 20 years.
